Practically all the disturbed area has
now been reclaimed and is now a tourist attraction.
A variety of antique mining equipment was accumulated and is now used as
displays for tourists to see. The process of making tHefe-better displays is an
ongoing process.
Very insignificant amount of mine related disturbance actually occurred
within the approved permited area throughout the entire thirteen year "
period that the permit has been valid. Most of this disturbance has been
reclaimed. At present only 0.05 acres is unreclaimed. (see exhibit B.)
The greatest disturbance that has occurred at the mine site was the re-routing
of the county road by the the Clear Creek County government. This road
improvement was done for the safety of the enlarging permanent residential
population of the Trail Creek mining district. These residents commute up and
down the canyon daily.
The county road was moved from the north side of trail creek from the
northwest side of the pre-existing building to a straighter course bearing on
the south-east side.of tine building. The recentry constructed county roadway
now belongs to Clear Creek County.
This county improvement has detracted from the permited area and has taken
from the o4venership of Mosch Mining Company an acreage amount of 0.83
acres. 0.39 acres of this area was subtracted from the actual one acre proposed
disturbance (imitation :ts was described in the original application. This area
is along die work-way of the pre-existing mine. All of the residents of Trail
Creek have constructed permanent year round homes on patented lode mining
claifns which has caused a road traffic problem. Practically all surface
disturbance that ever occurred in the permited area of the property was
consequential to the county ordered road re-construction. (see exhibit B.)
The county of Clear Creek reclaimed die original historic Phoenix mine dump
to a slope varying from ninty to one-hundred and ten percent. This fits the
natural hillside slope contour of the mountain, being the same grade
percentage. 7'he count}' also sloped the bank of the smaller spur road from
the county road to dais same basic slope grade as is also shown on the map.
