The gravel pit is located approximately 8 miles south of
Montrose, Colorado and will be called the Colona Gravel Pit.
t The proposed property is bounded on the west by U.S. Highway 550
and on the east by the flood plain of the Uncompahgre River. To
' the north is sparsely spaced residence with acreage and to the
south a field prior to sparsely spaced residences with acreage.
' The parcel consists of 37.1± acres of which 28.5 acres is to be
t mined. The small acreage is irrigated farm ground similar to the
adjacent small acreages. The site presently has a pre-manufactured
' single family residence. The pre-manufactured structure will be
used as a temporary office until the gravel removal operation
' progresses to the point it will need to be removed.
The purpose of this report is to identify geologic hazards,
particularly hazards that might have adverse effect on adjacent
properties and manmade structures. This report is based on drill
' holes performed on the proposed parcel, on soil mapping by the Soil
Conservation Service (SCS) and on various geologic books and maps.
