Mr. Jim Stover - 2 - April 6, 1992
Reclamation (continued)
4. It is unclear as to whether the coal stockpile areas are to be reclaimed
by providing adequate cover material over the coal residual or whether
the coal residual is to be removed before reclamation. Please clarify
and provide cost estimates for the procedure chosen.
Roads
Mined Land Reclamation Division has found that permanent culverts left after
reclamation tend to be a maintenance problem. The Division recommends that
Somerset Mining re-establish the access road to the cemetary in Its present
location upon reclamation to circumvent leaving the Elk Creek culverts in
place. Please provide plans to this effector explain why you do not agree.
Wildlife
Please submit an acknowledgement that Somerset Mining Company will comply with
the Division of Wildlife requirements for wildlife enhancement and final
reclamation (especially in the riparian areas of Elk Creek) stated in the
October 1, 1991 statement from Paonia District Wildlife Manager,
Kirk Madariaga.
If you have any questions or require clarification of these requests, do not
hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
~~
Steve S.
