Pueblo County Department of Planning and Development
April4 2002
Page ~ of 3
6. The proposal is located on lands that are within an agricultural district. The
zoning designation allows for the extraction of sand and gravel as a use
by special review.
Presently the permit boundary is used for grazing. The mining plan is limited
to where the sand and gravel reserves are of known high quality and with a
minimum amount of topsoil and overburden covering the resource.
8. Protection of the health, safety, and welfare of the inhabitants of the
neighborhood of Pueblo County are being considered by the applicant.
Possible fugitive dust emissions from the site will be minimized by watering,
truck speed limits, and revegetation. Noise levels from the operation will fall
within the requirements for the industrial zone. Access to the operation will
be from Courtney Road and most trucks will proceed directly to US Highway
50.
Surrounding land uses are primarily agricultural/rangeland, with other
permitted sand and gravel operations to the east and south of the site.
Being a business operation, the truck traffic will be limited to business
hours. The operation will not require additional housing or support services
to be located in this agricultural area. Compatibility with the surrounding
uses will be assured by setbacks, noise limitations, and other restrictions on
the operation.
10. Drinking water will be supplied to employees by delivered bottled water.
Exhibit G of the DMG application discusses how dust control water will be
brought to-the site. _
11. Copies of deeds identifying the landowners of the property are attached.
12. The applicant agrees to comply with industrial noise levels. No extraordinary
methods are needed to obtain this noise level at the orooertv line.
13. Other information determined necessary by the Board of County
Commissioners will be provided upon request.
Cordially,
Lafar2q~JFjte eserves,
C e it i~ ~'
Land Manager
Inc, A subsidiary of North America
.: ,.Ar:.. =s a~~m:., ,..
EXHB~T•~'
N > 4vrt
'~i4 1 S ~L t~^~ •O
suP~ a?sh'
