CAMAS Colorado, Inc.
October 20, 2006
Page 2
highwall, as shown in Figure 2. The engineered design for this proposed configuration consists
of comprehensive rock bolting by an experienced Contractor and overseen by an
engineer/geologist in the field, as well as permanent steel mesh draped over the face of the
reconfigured highwall. These engineered design components for slope stability and rockfall
mitigation are necessary due [o [he likely presence of local block failures and/or poor quality
rock, and to meet existing MSHA safety regulations.
RECLAMATION CHANGES DUE TO MINE PLAN MODIFICATION
Based.on.a.review of the Fifth-Mine PermiEAmendmenY(Permit M-73-021 (005)) by Haley Bc
Aldrich, 1998, no changes in reclamation plans are necessary for this proposed mine plan
modification. The current Final reclamation plan for this area of the Central Quarry consists of
backfill placement, topsoiling, and revegetation of the benches. Although the modification
consists of the reconfiguration of two benches into one bench, the existing reclamation plan in
the Fifth Mine Permit Amendment (Permit M-73-021 (005)) by Haley & Aldrich, 1998 will be
utilized and the entire "new" bench will be reclaimed using the same methods as for the two
"old" benches.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact this office.
Sincerely yours,
LYMAN HENN, INC.
~~
David A.
