N • EXHIBIT "D" NORTH OF DOUGLAS PASS RECLAMATION PLAN Present land use of the pit area is rangeland.. Reclamation is intended to return the mined land and access road within the pit limits to rangeland. 2. Reclamation will be kept current, to the extent practical. The mining plan is intended to regrade and reclaim tlhe existing pit. 3. The maximum gradient of reclaimed cut slopes will be ''/a:l (horizontal and vertical). Cut slopes at'/<:1 will be ;a maximum height of 30 feet. Benches will be intermixed with the '/<:1 slopes. Slopes flatter than'/<:1 may be left full height without benches if irregular. See maps Exhibit "E" 4. Topsoil will be salvaged and replaced on reclaimed slopes 1 %Z :1 or flatter to a minimum depth of 6." Topsoil may have to be imported to meet this requirement. 5. Temporary roads and all areas compacted by heavy equipment will be ripped on the contour prior to reveg.etation attempts. A slightly roughened surface helps to control sediment and aids in establishment of vegetation. 6. Soil preparation will be by discing. Apply seed after October 15 by drilling with the following seed mixtw•e. If the seed is broadcast the application rate should be doubled. Seeded areas may require fencing to keep cows off the new growth. Exhibit "B". A recent construction project at Rangely for 18 acres of seeding went for $325 per acre. The reclamation costs for an independent contractor should be no more than $400 per acre. CDOT maintenance will do tlhe work at considerably less cost. Since all slopes are not seeded only a portion of the 9.59 acn:s would require reclamation.
