(BMRI) - San Luis
DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Dear Mr. Dillie:
This letter is to inform you of a few outstanding matters
regarding the San Luis Mine.
~,~g Well M-14
After installing the dedicated pump systems in the five biweekly
wells below the collection pond in the fall of 1994, we
experienced some cold weather that caused two of the wells to
freeze (Wells M-12 and M-14). M-12 was successfully thawed,
however M-14 was not. In the process of thawing the well, the one
inch PVC pipe used to take water level measurements meltted. We
have not taken water level measurements at M-14 since March 13,
1995. We are still able to collect water quality sampl@s since
the dedicated pumps are still operational. We are currently
evaluating options to either replace the melted portions of the
pipe or otherwise open the pipe to allow water level readings. We
expect to have this situation resolved by August sampling.
~ j Ta; 1 ; ng~~p~QOt Distances
~,~v~,~ BMRI's tailings spigots are currently located on an average
spacing of 100 foot as discussed in the facility operation
discussions in the 1989 Permit Amendment. Tailings are deposited
from spigots operated in groups with isolation valves on the main
tails line to prevent sanding of the line.
