Lang <br /> Division Director <br />Re: Colowyo Coal Mine (Permit No. C-81-019) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 47 (TR-47) <br />Reduction in the Frequency of Monitoring Revegetated Areas <br />Dear Mr. Coryell: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 22, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Colowyo <br />Coal Mine was consideredcomplete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by CDlowyo Coal Company L.P. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This technical revision provides for a reduction in the monitoring of revegetated ores Gom the lst, 2nd, and every 3rd year <br />thereafterafter seeding until bond release inspectionsto the 1st, 2nd, and 4th year after seeding until bond release inspections. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 28 miles south of Craig. The permit area is further <br />described as follows: <br />All or portionsof Sections 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, !0, I I, 14, I5, I6, 17, 20, 21 and T3N, R93 W; and Sections 13, 16, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, <br />28, 33 and 34, T4N, R93W; 6th Prime Meridian. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Axial & Ninemile Gap. <br />A copy of [he technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Moffat County Counhouse, 221 W Victory <br />Way, Craig, CO 81625, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact the <br />Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for <br />us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (1 S) days of [his letter.
