Hanle Mouomin Gold Compeoy "Sera Luis Miue" - Geochemical Testing Program FINAL REAORT
INTRODUCTION
This report contains results of test work as described in the technical memorandum and work
plan from Geochimica, Inc to Battle Mountain Gold dated May 22, 1995. As described in the
memo, Geochimica, Inc has recommended to Battle Mountain Gold that a variety of test work
be completed to evaluate the impact of backtilling the San Luis Mine pit area with waste rock,
comprised primarily of Pink Gneiss. It is anticipated that, following completion of mining, the
pit area would re-saturate with groundwater, fully inundating the backfilled material.
A series of sequential batch tests were performed comprised of multiple sequential contacts
between liquid and solids while attempting to minimize the presence of oxygen during testing.
These tests were intended to simulate the re-saturation of the backfilled pit area with low oxygen
containing ground water.
TEST MATERIALS and PREPARATION PROCEDURES
Waste Rock Samples
A total of six rock samples contained in large sample bags were received from the project site
via UPS on 5/25/95. The sample materials were labeled as follows:
Chemac
Client I.D. Lab I.D.
052295-1 95016-]
052295-2 95016-2
052295-3 95016-3
052295-4 95016-4
052295-5 95016-5
052295-6 95016-6
All of each sample was crushed to approximately 1/4" top size and then thorqughly blended.
The crushed material was quite dry and no further drying was deemed necessary prior to testing.
Crushed, -1/4" material was utilized for all sequential batch testing.
A representative split of -1/4" material (- SOOgms) was collected from each sample and pulverized
in its entirety to -100 mesh. These analytical "head" samples were stored in sealable plastic
bags prior to testing for acid base accounting and metals.
Ground Water
A total of ten 5-gallon plastic cubitainers, each filled with site ground water, wire received via
courier at Chemac Environmental Services' lab on 06/7/95.
CHEMAC ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES Z August. 1995
