Long <br />Division Director <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 3, 1998, an application to revise coal mining operations at the <br />Roadside Portals was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Powderhom Coal <br />Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This revision would eliminate the requirement for monitoring of peak Flow events on Jerry Creek and Coal Creek, a[ <br />monitoring points SWGS 6, 7, S and 9. Monthly monitoring of instantaneous flows from June through November would <br />continue. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles north of Palisade. The permit azea is <br />further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 26,2 7, 28, 29, 34, and 35, TIOS, R98W, 6th PM; Portions of Sections 6, 7, and 18, <br />TI lS, R97W, 6th PM; Portions of Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, and 14, TI1S, R98W, 6th PM; Portions of Section 1, TIS, <br />R2E, Ute PM; all in Mesa County. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Cameo and Palisade. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Courthouse, Box 20,000, <br />Grand Junction, CO 81501, and at dte Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact <br />the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In <br />order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this <br />letter.
