<br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, N accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Pazagraph
<br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 3, 1998, an application to revise coal mining operations at the
<br />Roadside Portals was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Powderhorn Coal
<br />Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
<br />This revision would eliminate the requirement for monitoring of peak flow events on Jerry Creek and Coal Creek, at
<br />monitoring points SWGS 6, 7, 8 and 9. Monthly monitoring of instantaneous flows from June through November would
<br />continue.
<br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles north of Palisade. The permit area is
<br />funkier described as follows:
<br />Portions of Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 26,2 7, 28, 29, 34, and 35, T10S, R98W, 6th PM; Portions of Sections 6, 7, and 18,
<br />T11S, R97W, 6th PM; Portions of Sections 1, 2, l 1, 12, 13, and ]4, Tl IS, R98W, 6th PM; Portions of Section 1, T1S,
<br />R2E, Ute PM; all N Mesa County.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Cameo and Palisade.
<br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Courthouse, Box 20,000,
<br />Grand Junction, CO 81501, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact
<br />the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In
<br />order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this
<br />letter. If no co ents are received by then, we will proceed on the assumption that you have no concerns with, or
<br />objections to, the licant's proposal.
