1
' _ Ve¢etariort Samplin¢ (or 1995
' sandwort, and hairy golden aster were the predominant perennial forbs and Antelopebrush and
broom snakeweed were the most abundant shrubs/subshrubs.
' Alluvial Valley Floor 1990
' This site was dominated by smooth bromegrass and alfalfa, two species which were used
predominantly in hayland seed mixture. Seven other species of perennial grasses occur within this
site and have values of relative cover ranging from 0.1 to 1.6 percent (Table 11) Absolute
' vegetative cover was 72.0 percent.
Alluvial Valley Floor 1991
' Results from this site show orchardgrass, smooth bromegrass, and alfalfa as the dominant
vegetation (Table 12). Three perennial grasses and three perennial forbs were also observed with
' relative cover values ranging from 0.1 to 1.6 percent. Absolute vegetative cover was 56.7
percent.
Alluvial Valley Floor Reference Area
' This site accounted for 65.2 percent absolute cover, compared to the two reclaimed areas which
had cover values equal to 72.0 and 56.7 percent (Table 13). As expected, smooth bromegrass and
alfalfa were the predominant vegetative species accompanied by a wide array of perennial grasses,
' annual forbs, and perennial forbs.
' VEGETATIVE DISCUSSION
The results of the disturbed mine area surveys revealed absolute vegetation cover within all the
' reclaimed aeeas exceeded the mean cover value of the Dryland Reference Area. Litter, rock, and
bare ground accounted for 39.4, 7.5, and 39.2 percent of the ground cover within the disrurbed
mine areas in comparison to 21.2 percent litter, 39.0 percent rock, and 31.2 percent bare ground
' within the Dryland Reference Area. Comprehensive plant species lists for the disturbed mine area
and Dryland Reference Area are presented in Tables 14 and 15.
' The results of the vegetation cover sampling within the AVF Reclaimed Areas resulted in the 1990
AVF Reclaimed Area exceeding the AVF Reference Area. The AVF 1991 Reclaimed Area cover
' value did not exceed the AVF Reference Area afrer the adjustment to exclude annual, biennial, and
noxious weed species. Comprehensive plant species lists for the disrurbed mine area and AVF
Refernce Aare are presented in Tables 16 and 17. Therefore, a T-Test was calculated to

NYnN.OSTMarc~ 19. 19V"I a -19
