6. Please provide information on the depth and diameter of all groundwater monitoring
wells (even those abandoned, unless they have been released from liability) for both New
Horizon 1 and 2.
Please provide a description of all structures located at surface water monitoring sites
(flumes, gauges, etc.).
Table 2.05.3(3)-2 shows design information for all culverts west of 27.00 Road. Is there
such a table for all culverts east of 27.00 Road? Also, while this table shows the diameter
of all culverts, it does not include the length. Please revise the permit application to
include a list of all culverts on site, including the diameter and length of each culvert.
9. Is the HDPE pipe that diverts the West Lateral Ditch above ground? If it is below
ground, please indicate the depth below ground.
10. There aze a number of culverts listed in the permit text (A-1 - A-13) that do not appear to
be on any maps, and it is unclear on any map where all of the ditches aze located. Most
of the maps include a lot of unlabeled information, rendering surface water control
features difficult to decipher. In accordance with Rules 2.04.7 and 2.05.3, please provide
one map which depicts all culverts, ponds, and ditches on site; preferably this map should
be limited to surface water features and topography.
11. Attachment 2.05.3(3) 7 includes design input and location information for small area
exemptions (SAES). The SAE information is limited to a description of one SAE at
Topsoil Stockpile K; please provide design inputs and construction details for all of the
other SAEs.
12. Attachment 2.05.5(3)-7 also includes design input and location information for the
"traveling" ponds ahead of the advancing pit. The information provided does not include
sufficient detail to determine a reclamation cost. Please provide a design plan view and
an embankment cross section for each of the traveling ponds.
13. Map 2.05.4-1 shows postmine drainage channels in the Pond 007 drainage area. There
don't appeaz to be any postmine drainage channels proposed for the areas draining to
Ponds 008-014. Are there plans for channels in the reclaimed areas draining to Ponds
008-014? If so, please provide a map showing their locations, and design details for each
drainage channel.
14. It is not clear in the permit text and maps whether there remains any surface water control
structures (ponds, ditches, culverts, SAEs) in the New Horizon 1 (Rice Tract) area, so we
aze unable to estimate remaining reclamation costs. Please provide maps and text
describing sediment control measures in place at New Horizon 1.
I5. There is a table, labeled Attachment 2.05.3(3)-10-13 (also repeated and updated on pages
18 and 23), which details drill hole information for holes drilled since June 14, 2001. Are
New Horizon Mine -7- November 23, 2005
