TRAPPER MINING INC.
SAND AND GRAVEL SITE
•
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1.0 Introduction
The existing land use of the site of the proposed sand and gravel opera-
tion is classified as agricultural - leased as grazing. However the area
is also used by wildlife. Trapper Mining Inc. proposes to return the dis-
turbed area, after mining and reclamation, to wildlife habitat and
recreation.
The proposed gravel pit is located within areas subject to local zoning
and subdivision regulations. Trapper Mine has applied to Moffat County
Planning and Zoning Department for a conditional use permit. The pit will
be located on state lands as indicated in Exhibit B. The permit boundary
for the proposed sand and gravel operation will be marked for identifica-
tion with signs similar to Figure E-1.

1.1 Reclamation Goal
In general, the reclaimed area will be regraded to conform with the sur-
rounding area and to enhance wildlife habitat as much as practical.
Appropriate species of perennial plants, table E-1, will be established to
provide food and cover for wildlife. Also, a permanent pond, approxi-
mately 57~cres in size, will be left after mining. The structure will be
constructed according the Division of Wildlife specifications, Exhibit H,
as a warm water fishery.
The reclamation of [he areas disturbed by the sand and gravel operation as
described above and in detail below will enhance the proposed land uses,
recreation and wildlife habitat. These uses are consistent with uses of
the surrounding areas. In addition, the Colorado Division of Wildlife has
recommended that the mined-out pit left after completion of the proposed
project be developed into a warm water fishery. Such a proposal is log-
ical since insufficient overburden will exist to eliminate the resulting
depression. However, the availability of the site for public use will
rest with the State Land Board, the surface owner.
1.2 Pit Development Activities
It is anticipated that some additional drilling and/or small exploration
pits will be used to define the actual mining limits. Maximum depth of
such pit development activities will seldom exceed 30 feet. Further, the
proposed pit development activities won't exceed the depth of existing
alluvium. Thus, the potential for contamination of aquifers or other
ground water systems will not exist. However, all drill holes or explora-
tion pits will be filled with cuttings or be backfilled as soon as possi-
ble. If mining will occur within three growing seasons at the exploratory
site, the associated disturbed area will not be further reclaimed.
s
ti~
• Contd.
