.~
Memo to Cathy Begej - 4 - March 13, 1990
Overburden Geochemistry Data
Comments on these daia have been covered previously.
Uverburden Sampling Program Requirement
KCC has committed to an overburden sampling program as mining progresses in
the Pit 2 area. No sampling is being done, or committed to in the Pit 1 or
120 Pit areas. Tne following comments apply:
1. The nature of collecting baseline information required under Rule 2.04 is
so plans prepared in accordance with Rule 2.05 can meet the applicable
performance standards of Rule 4. This necessarily entails collection of
baseline data prior to, not during, mining and/or mine development
activities. KCC must commit to a more intensive sampling program in the
Pit 2 area prior to any more development in that area so that the Permit
Application Package complies with Rule 2.04.6. further, KCC should
commit to a more intensive overburden sampling program in the Pit 1 and
720 Pit areas so that they may ensure that the Permit Application Package
is in compliance with Rule 2.04.6 and that the mine operations will be in
compliance with Rule 4.14.3.
Selective Overburden Handling Plan
The following comment applies:
1. Subsequent to the baseline sampling program that KCC must commit to, a
determination will be made as to whether a selective overburden handling
plan is needed.
ec~. SuSa,,,.
