Cattany <br />Acling Division Director <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on July 17, 2002, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Lorencito Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. Lorencito Coal <br />Company, LLC, submitted the revision. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles West of Segundo on Hwy 12 in Las <br />Animas County. The permit area is further described as follows: Lands south of the Purgatoire River, lands east <br />of Cow Canyon, lands north of Puertecito Canyon, and lands west of Little Jeff Canyon, covering approximately <br />3142 acres. The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5-minute Quadrangle map of Little Pine <br />Canyon. This revision proposes changes to the surface-blasting plan and clarifies information required for blast <br />logs. The revision also modifies permit text related to the use of a seismograph for data collection from surface <br />blasts at the site. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper [hat this application has been deemed compiete. <br />At the ttme of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this application at <br />the Las Animas County Courthouse, 200 East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division <br />office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, <br />Room 215, 1313 Sherman Sheet, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567, In order for us to comply with <br />regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (li) days of this letter.
