Cattany <br />Atting Division Director <br />Re: Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1996-084) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 9 (TR-9) <br />Revise Blasting Plan <br />Dear Mr. Geier: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Pazagraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on July 17, 2002, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Lorencito Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of Filing. Lorencito Coal <br />Company, LLC, submitted the revision. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This surface coal Honing operation is on land located approximately 3 miles West of Segundo on Hwy 12 in Las <br />Animas County. The pemut azea is further described as follows: Lands south of the Purgatoire River, lands east <br />of Cow Canyon, lands north of Puertecito Canyon, and lands west of Little Jeff Canyon, covering approximately <br />3142 acres. The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5-minute Quadrangle map of Little Pine <br />Canyon. <br />This revision proposes changes to the surface-blasting plan and clarifies information required for blast logs. The <br />revision also modifies permit text related to the use of a seismograph for data collection from surface blasts at the <br />site. The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed <br />complete. At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this <br />application at the Las Animas County Courthouse, 200 East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and a[ <br />the Division office. <br />For additional information or to provide wrirten comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geolog,~, <br />Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with <br />regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this letter.
