C
this drainage rather than installing a culvert. A ditch has
also been designed to carry water from this drainage crossing
to Pond B, as requested by the Division. This ditch and
culvert location are shown on revised Map 16a, Kerr Mine Area
Surface Water Hydrology which was submitted last week with
Kerr's mid-term adequacy responses. Appropriate revisions
have also been made to the permit text and Exhibit 42,
Drainage and Sediment Control Plan to reflect this change.
Kerr will install the culvert or ditch crossing and if
necessary will modify the configuration of the subject ditch
during the summer of 1991 when ground conditions permit.
e) Please document the drainage system on the shop fill area on map
16A and prepare designs if needed.
RESPONSE
As requested by the Division, Kerr has provided arrows on Map
16a, Kerr Mine Area Surface Water Hydrology which show the
general flow patterns on the shop fill area. As indicated,
all drainage from this area flows either into Pond D via the
haulroad ditch or Pond C via ditch C-1 or through disturbed
area along the southern side of the fill. Revised Map 16a,
Kerr Mine Area Surface Water Hydrology which was submitted
with Kerr's mid-term responses last week, shows this
drainage.
f) Design and map the location of the culvert which drains water from
the south end of Pit 1, below the pit access road and leading to
culvert 3. Also design and map the ditch between this culvert and
culvert 3.
RESPONSE
The culvert which drains water from the south end of Pit 1,
below the pit access road and leading to culvert 3 has been
designed and mapped pursuant to this Division request. The
ditch feeding and draining this culvert has also been
designed and mapped and has now been designated as Ditch E-1.
Revised Map 16a, Kerr Mine Area Surface Water Hydrology,
shows the locations for these structures and appropriate
revisions have been made to Exhibit 42, Drainage and Sediment
Control Plan to incorporate the designs into the permit
document.
3
