STORMWATER MANAGEM~ PLAN <br /> <br />2. Periodic Inspection and maintenance of ell eroded areas, replacement of <br />vegetation, and inslallallon of additional erosion control measures as needed. <br />3. Inspection of mining equipment and systems to uncover conditions, that <br />could cause breakdowns or failures resulting in discharges of pollutants. All <br />EPC equipment is maintained according to a strict service schedule. All <br />equipment will be serviced offsite from the pit. <br />4. Traditional "housekeeping" practices are pertormed by the staff so the facility <br />is keep clean and orderly. <br />E. SPILL PREVENTION AND RESPONSE PROCEDURES <br />The only source of a spill is from heavy equipment used to mine the sand and gravel. <br />Should any spill occur, as unlikely as it maybe, it will be cleaned up Immediately by <br />removing the earthen material containing the spill end disposing of It in the proper <br />manor. In addition, the Stormwaler Management Plan Administrators, per section IV <br />subsection A, will be notified. <br />F. BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES <br />1.) STORMWATER DIVERSION <br />Stormwaler is diverted around the pit by either natural slopes of graded berms <br />that have been revegelated. The minor flows that ere tributary from the are <br />north of the pit and those within the pit area are contained in sedimentation <br />ponds In lire soullieasl and southwest corners of the pit. Flows tributary to the <br />pit from the northwest, west, and east are either diverted around the pit by <br />natural terrain or vegetated berms and swales. <br />2.) SEDIMENT AND EROSION PREVENTION <br />Periodic inspection and maintenance of all eroded areas, replacement of <br />vegetation, repair of existing sediment capture facilities (sediment removal), and <br />installation of additional erosion control measures shall occur as needed. <br />G. EMPLOYEE TRAINING <br />EI Paso County Department of Transporiatlon will ensure that employees are <br />tre(ned In polluticn prevention procedures for their respective areas of <br />responsibilities. Training shall address Identification of possible pollutants, <br />proper materials handling and storing, good housekeeping procedures, spill <br />reporting, containment and cleanup procedures, end the Importance of <br />preventive maintenance. <br />H. NON-STORMWATER DISCHARGES <br />There ere no non-sormwater discharges, such as spoil springs, sanitary waste, <br />or process water associated with this sand and gravel pit. <br />IV. COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTION <br />Two types of Inspections will be performed at lire facility as part of the storrnwater <br />pollution prevention program. A comprehensive site Inspection will be conducted in the <br />fall by a qualified person assigned by the Stormwaler Management Supervisor to verify <br />that the description of potential pollutant sources is accurate, the drainage map has been <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />
