Phase IVc Summary No. 2 Page 2 043-2170
\J
•
•
and cemented rock-fill portion of the remediation was completed last construction season. Future
placement of geogrid will complete remediation of the working.
Ames constructed Secondary Underdrain at the west Phase IVb/ IVc tie-in and on the Nc slope on
Chicken Hawk Hill. Ames constructed approximately 210 feet of Secondary Underdrain.
Ames began constntction of the Phase IVc Leak Detection Trench (LDT) within Phase IVc along the
west end of the VLF on Chicken Hawk Hill. Ames constructed approximately 650 feet of LDT.
Ames continued production of bentonite-amended SLF at the screen and pug mill plant located above
the Ames materials yazd.
A map of the area worked during this reporting period is provided in Attachment C.
Field Monitorine and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IVc earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications.
Golder observed placement and compaction of SF in the Phase IVc OSA for subgrade prepazation,
lifr thickness, compaction, moisture content, and materials used. The Golder CQA Earthworks
Monitor performed visual observations to verify conformance with method specifications. SF
placed met the requirements of the project specifications.
Golder observed construction of LDT in Phase IVc for trench dimensions, slope, and materials used.
Golder observed construction of Secondary Underdrain in Phase IVc for proper trench dimensions,
slope, materials, geotextile over-lap, and material thickness.
Laboratory Tests
Golder obtained QC samples of bentonite-amended soil liner fill (SLF-QC-06, and SLF-QC-07).
Laboratory index testing was conducted on samples of bentonite-amended SLF at either the Golder
Soils Laboratory in Lakewood, Colorado, or at the field trailer to verify suitability of materials prior
to use in the field. A summary of QC laboratory test results for SLF materials conducted after
completion of the 2003 construction season is available at the field trailer.
Golder obtained one sample of Underdrain Fill (LIFc-O1) for laboratory testing. The sample tested
met the requirements of the specifications and results aze presented in Attachment B.
Meetines
CC&V held Weekly Contractors' meetings on Apri127 and May 4, 2004. Items discussed included
Safety, Environmental, Schedule, QC documentation, and CQA. The next weekly meeting will be
held on May 11, 2004 at 10:00 AM.
rn~rvooz,~d~zs-~YS, zoon e~ Golder Associates lnc.
