Site C, sample area 1 was conducted at the crest of the mine site in a
Pinyon-Juniper vegetation type. Both Site E, Sample 1 and Site C, Sample 1
quantify the most densely vegetated areas in contrast to the barren 1/3 of
the site. Still 818 of the ground is barren or covered only with litter.
Shrubs also constituted 37.58 composition, followed by grass, specifically
Orvzopsis hvmenoides, constituting 258 of the vegetation composition.
Trees, Pinyon-Juniper, were 37.58 composition. Dominant species were Pinus
edulis 258, average height 17.5'; Chrvsothamnus vicidiflorus, 258, average
height 10"; and Oryzopsis hymenoides, 258, average height 9".
TABLE 3
Site C, Sample Site 1
Intercept Percent
Species Points Cover
Pinus edulis 2 5.0
Juniperus scopulorum 1 2.0
Chrysothamnus vicidiflorus 2 5.0
Eurotia Janata 1 2.0
Oryzopsis hymenoides 2 5.0
Litter
Bare ground
Total
17
17
42
Percent
Species Composition
Pinus edulis 25
Juniperus scopulorum 12.5
Chrysothamnus vicidiflorus 25
Eurotia Janata 12.5
Oryzopsis hymenoides 25
Total 1008
Average
Heioht
17.5'
12'
10"
12"
9 ..
40.5
40.5
1008
Percent Composition
By Lifeform
37.5 Tree
37.5 Shrub
0 Forb
25.0 Grass
1008
*NOte: While 6 intercept points occurred for Pinus edulis canopy, each
tree was only counted once to maintain sampling consistency.
Pinon/Juniper vegetation.
