Site E, Sample 1 was dominated by Pinyon-Juniper vegetation with an
understory of Chrvsothamnus vicidiflorus and Orvzoosis hymenoides.
Occasional Pseudotsuoa menzeisii are found within the draws. It appears
that there is a canopy predominance of Junioerus osteosoerma and Pinus
edulis in the heavily vegetated areas along the draws. The sample area had
74.58 bare ground and litter with 78 tree coverage, 4.58 shrub coverage,
and 148 grass. Orvzopsis hvmenoides predominated the population
composition at 558, 9" height, with 278 Pinus edulis, 18' and 188
Chrvsothamnus vicidiflorus, 4" height.
TABLE 2
Site E, Sample Site 1
Intercept Percent Percent Average
Species Points Cover Composition Height
Pinus edulis 3 7.0 27 18'
Chrysothamnus vicidiflorus 2 4.5 18 4"
Oryzopsis hymenoides 6 14.0 55 9"
Litter 15 35.0
Bare Ground 17 39.5
Total 43 1008 1008
Lifeform Life Form Percent
Trees 27
Shrubs lg
Grass 55
Total 1008
*Note: While 11 intercept points occurred for Pinyon Pine canopy, each
tree was counted only once to maintain sampling consistency.
Pinyon-Juniper Vegetation.
