C. Bishard requesting
further information on the October, 1981 amendment application, Exxon
provides the following:
1. Exhibit I of this letter contains the soils data you requested for the
Parachute laydown area.
2. Figure 1 provides more detail on the drainage and sediment control plan
for the Parachute laydown area. Two sedimentation ponds, each designed
for a 10-year, 24-hour storm, will receive drainage from the disturbed
areas. Topsoil will be used either to build the surrounding berms or
will be stored in designated stockpiles. Detailed design of these
sediment control facilities is now underway. We will advise you if
significant changes occur to the preliminary design shown in Figure 1.
Gravel will be applied to the equipment storage and laydown yards.
Final reclamation of these areas will consist of removing the gravel,
retopsoiling and revegetating with the permanent seed mix specified in
the Colony Reclamation Plan for the Parachute terminal facilities (page
E-36 of the original MLRB permit application). The gravel will either
be sold for reuse off the Project or will be used elsewhere on the
Project site.
At the present time the total area required for the oil mist yard has not
been finalized, but we estimate that between two and five acres will be
necessary. The oil mist yard will serve as an equipment storage and
laydown area in which oil will be applied to the internal rotating parts
of equipment to protect against corrosion. It is not anticipated that
the gravel soil cover will be significantly contaminated by oil. For
final reclamation the gravel from the oil mist yard will be handled the
same as that from the other storage and laydown areas as discussed in
response #3 above. Should some of the gravel cover or underlying soil
be contaminated by oil to the extent that it is unsuitable for sale or
re-use, it will be properly disposed of in an appropriate waste disposal
facility approved for such wastes.
no Soli
I~rPMs -
~c~•
A DivI510N OF E%%ON CORPORATION
