RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General Reclamation Plan
The mining areas will be reclaimed in two different forms. Flat azeas will be reclaimed as irrigated
pastures, with irrigation water to be provided by the land owner from existing ditches and/or wells.
The sloped areas will be classified as dry rangeland. The breakdown of the final reclaimed acreages
is given in the table below. Soil preparation for both reclamation areas will be identical. Due to
limited topsoil, fines will be blended into the topsoil to provide a minimum of 6 inches of growth
media. For the mining areas the blend will be 50% topsoil and 50%fines. The staging area and the
valley fill will have to be a 25% topsoil to 75%fines mix due to the extreme lack of available topsoil.
The only available topsoil for the Staging Area and Valley Fill azea exist in a small stockpile of 5,684
CY neaz the well pad. Overall, all azeas will have a minimum of 6" of blended topsoil medium. Extra
natural fines may also be used to increase this depth. All reclamation items can be seen on Map 5.
Reclamation Areas
Area Acreage
Irrigated Pasture 67.31
Dry Rangeland Slopes 19.65
Undisturbed (Dry rangeland slopes) 12.22
Total Permit Area 99.18
Map 5 shows all the final contours and reclamation azeas planned for the site. Map 4 shows the cross-
sections of the reclaimed terrain in compazison with the original terrain. The landowner wishes for
the main access ramp to remain and may choose to allow the small southern access ramp to remain.
All slopes will be reclaimed to a 2H:1 V or milder grade. As explained eazlier, some natural fines may
be used to lessen these slopes. As mining areas are mined out the slopes will promptly be reclaimed.
By this method of concurrent reclamation, the overall disturbed azea will be kept to a minimum. The
North Pit will be the first azea reclaimed. As the South Pit progresses, each of its azea's slopes will
be reclaimed. The flat bench azeas will remain unreclaimed until the end of the operation, in order to
provide working azea. Therefore, the final reclamation azea will be the flat azea of all South Pit Mining
Areas, the Valley Fill Area, and the Staging Area, as well as, the slopes of Mining Area 5. Throughout
the mining process, excess fines will be used to prepaze the sloped and flat azeas for reclamation and
to minimize stockpiles of fines.
3. Revegetation
For flat azeas which will seethe most compaction, the soil will be disced to loosen the materi7. Due
to mild grade, seed can be drilled in the irrigated pasture azeas. For the dry rangeland slopes it will
have to be broadcast seeded. The dry rangeland mix was prescribed by the NCRS. Certified weed
free mulch will be crimped into the surface of the dry rangeland areas at 20001bs per acre, as specified
by the NRCS. The irrigated pasture mix has been selected by the landowner. Irrigated azeas will only
be seeded; no mulch will be applied. Dry rangeland slopes will be planted with tubelings.
