NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION The Colorado tAined Land Reclamation Division has approved an application for a revision (PR-001) to the existing permit to conduct coal mining and reclamation operations submitted by the Somerset Mining Company for the Somerset Mine. The Somerset Mine operation is located in Delta and Gunnison Counties, adjacent to and directly north of the town of Somerset, Colorado. The mine is an underground mine with an anticipated maximum production capacity of 750,000 tons per year. The coal to be mined is privately owned, and the surface to be affected is federally and privately owned. The revised permit area encompasses approximately 3,737 acres. The Somerset Coal Mine permit area is located in portions of the following described lands. Township ]2 South, Range 90 West, 6th PM Sec. 31: Lot 12, 13, 14 Township 13 South, Range 90 West; 6th PM Sec. 5: Lot 8 Sec. 6: N/2, N/2SW/4, SW/4SW/4, NW/4S E/4 Sec. 7: A11 except NW/4SE/4 Sec. 8: All except E/2NE/4, NE/4NW/4 Sec. 9: S/2SW/4 Sec. 17: NE/4NW/4, NW/4N E/4 Township 12 South, Range 91 West, 6th PM Sec. 34: Lot 15, 16 Sec. 35: Lot 7, 14, 15, Sec. 36: Lot 5, 6, 7, 8, 16,19,20,21,22 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6th PM Sec. 1: All Sec. 2: All except S/2SW/4 Sec. 3: NE/4, Lot 3, N/2SE/4 Sec. 11: E/2NE/4 Sec. 12: All except W/2SE/4, NE/4SW/4 Sec. 13: N/2NE/4, NE/4NW/4 The Somerset Mine permit area contains 2,775 acres of land of which 815 acres are on private land owned by the Operator and 1,960 acres are on Federal land.
