• 4.0 CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE
Construction specifications aze included in Appendix C. This section presents a summary of the
construction sequence for completion of the evaporative spray facilities.
4.1 Phase 1
The first phase of construction will consist of grading the holding pond, the evaporative spray
area, and the diversion channel. The grading plan is shown on Drawing 4. Existing wells within
liner azea (BF-2 and BF-6) will be preserved for continued monitoring and possibly as a source
for pumping. Excess cut material from the grading will be used to construct the holding pond
berm. The berm will be placed and compacted in accordance with the construction
specifications presented in Appendix C. Afrer rough grading is completed the azea will be proof-
rolled and visually inspected in accordance with the construction specifications. Rocks and
deleterious material protruding more than an inch above the required grade will be removed to
avoid puncturing the synthetic liner.
In general, the diversion channel will follow the slope of the evaporative spray area. The
dimensions of the diversion channel were presented in Section 3 and shown on Drawing 5. Cut
material from the diversion channel will be used to construct the berm where required (see
Drawing 5). The berm will be placed and compacted in accordance with the construction
specifications.
4.2 Phase 2
Phase 2 will consist of construction of the concrete slabs for the evaporative sprayers. The
concrete slabs will be constructed in accordance with the specifications in Appendix C. Due to
the weight of the evaporative sprayers, they will be mounted on the concrete slabs prior to
placement of the synthetic liner.
4.3 Phase 3
Phase 3 will consist of synthetic liner placement and anchoring, and facilitation of the pumps and
delivery lines for the evaporative sprayers. The liner anchoring details are shown on Drawing 3
Ba++(e ~tfoun+ain Resources, /nc. DRaF1' Shepherd hfiller, /nc.
p:1+00'6,e.ap pnxLs~epon.Juc 4-I May 11, 1999
