.-. 4
O O
Mr. Gregory C. Lewicki - 2 - October 31, 1985
6. Comment six indicates that there are fourteen sediment ponds on site at
this time. Of these, it would appear that six will remain after reclamation
as stock ponds, three will remain for unstated purposes, and five will be
reclaimed after vegetation has met post-mining standards. The operator
requests bond be released for all but five ponds. $9,935.00 ($1,987.00/pond)
will be retained as bond for the remaining five ponds. This seems quite
inappropriate as no ponds will be removed at this time. Clarification form
the operator as to why any pond bond money should be release is in order. It
should be noted that the operator does not have approval to leave any
post-mining ponds at this time. In order to do so the permit will need to be
revised.
To facilitate the bond release process at a later date the operator may
consider withdrawing the request at this time. After the above comments have
been adequately addressed, the public notice should be republished. At that
time the appropriate exhibits should be submitted to the Division as per the
requirements of Section 3.03 of the Regulations.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
~r~~
,sL' """
Steven Renner
Hydrologist
SR/ph
4597E
