V. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS <br />Based on the data provided by the operator, inflow to the mine has consistently vazied between <br />200 and 300 gpm. There is no basis oa which to assume this will change. Calculations <br />performed using these two inflow values indicate that, in the absence of other means to <br />discharge water in the Northwest intake pool, it will take between 37.3 and 55.9 days for the <br />pool to fill to the elevation of the floor of the Northwest Portal. Further, it will take from 79.8 to <br />l 19.8 days to fill to the roof of the Northwest Portal. <br />VI. QUALIFICATIONS <br />Dr. James R. Burnell has been with the Division of Minerals and Geology for four yeazs in the <br />position of environmental protection specialist. <br />Dr. Bumell's education consists of an A.B. in geology from Franklin & Mazshall College, an <br />M.S. in geology from the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in geology from Brown <br />University. Dr. Burnell is a Registered Professional Geologist in the state of Wyoming, #1359. <br />He has more than 25 yeazs experience infield geology, environmental geology, geochemistry, <br />hydrology, and mining. <br />Dr. Burnell has taught these fields at the college level, worked in reseazch for the U.S. National <br />Laboratory system, and was a consultant in the envirotmental industry before coming to the <br />Division. <br />Dr. Burnell has no previous experience as an expert witness. <br />
