STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Depanmenl of Natural Resources
i l l) Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Phone: 13031 866-3567
FA%:1303)832-8106 MEMO TO FILE
FILE r91: C-81-044
OPERATOR: Cyprus-Empire
MINE: Eagle Sfi9
DATE: February 4, 1993
REC SPEC: Stephen Wathen
SIIBJECT: Midterm Review;
Comments by Operator (Cyprus Empire)
PERSONS CONTACTED: Terrell Johnson
HOW CONTACTED: Telephone
COMMENTS:
oe cow
~~ o
~,~ ;
~ /8 i6
Roy Romrr
Gnvemor
Michael B. Lonp
Div Trion DIrrUO!
Terrell had two comments he wanted to make to our Midterm Review
issued November 23, 1992:
1. Page 2, last sentence: Terrell correctly pointed out
that the mine was not "idled" during strike, as written,
but was operating with a reduced work force and decreased
production (see attached photo copy of page 2).
We agreed that a statement to this effect would be
included in this memo to be included in the Midterm
Review file.
2. Pages 8 & 9: Terrell believes this paragraph is
incorrect because he believes that the Eagle Mine has the
right to damage the Williams Fork River alluvial valley
floor while doing full extraction but must prove to us
that they can repair the hydrologic balance. As evidence
of this he asked the Division to consider page 16 of the
findings document issued by the Division on April 24,
1987 for the Eagle Mines (see attached pages).
I said that I would refer this to Jim Pendleton as it was
his suggestion that this statement by the Division be
included in the Midterm review.
cc: Terrell Johnson, Cyprus Empire
Jim Pendleton, DMG
Larry Routten, DMG
