.,
Mr. Steve Shuey
Re: Request for Financial Warranty Reduction
Page 2 of 2
All areas disturbed during the final reclamation work were scarified and seeded. The
seed mix used in final reclamation was a blend of the approved mixes in the Reclamation Plan
for this Permit and the Monogram-Jo Dandy Permit M-1977-293.
San Miguel Power Company visited the area of the Great Hesper Pit in April 2003 and
determined that the short power line into the vicinity of the Great Hesper Pit is owned by the
power company.
The Operator is planning to transfer Permit M-1978-222UG to another entity, and in
association with this transfer, the Operator requests that the Division reevaluate the present
Financial Warranty to acknowledge the final reclamation work that has been completed.
Based on the specific reclamation activities identified by the Division in its July 17, 2002
inspection, the only remaining final reclamation obligations under this permit are to ensure
stability of the reclaimed site and to establish sustainable vegetation.
Please contact Terry V. Wetz at 303-389-4161 (telephone) or 303-389-4125 (fax) if any
additional information is required. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sinc ely,
D d C.
