The final reclamation work conducted under this Permit addressed the
outstanding final reclamation actions identified by the Division of Minerals and Geology (the
"Division") during site inspections conducted July 17, 2002. The following remaining final
reclamation items were identified by the Division:
1. Signs and Markers. Installation of a Mine Identification sign was stipulated
for the Great Hesper Pit site.
Reclamation Completed: The Operator installed a Mine Identification sign at the
Great Hesper Pit mine site.
2. Great Hesper No Division records exist to indicate that reseeding was
ever conducted at this site. Past regrading has settled slightly and exposed small openings
over old mine workings, and these openings need to be closed. Minor rifling that has
occurred on the west end of the regraded area needs to be regraded. Debris and trash
scattered about the general area needs to be removed. Seeding should be conducted in areas
of current sparse vegetation cover.
Reclamation Completed: The Operator conducted site cleanup and final
reclamation in the Great Hesper pit area in late 2002. Trash and debris were collected and
removed. Existing runoff/sediment catchment berms were regraded. The area within the Pit
that exhibited minor Tilling was graded, cross berms were re-established, and the entire slope
was cross-ripped. Several small diameter vent holes and shafts were present to the west of the
pit highwall. While it is not clear that these vent holes and shafts were all associated with the
Great Hesper Pit, the Operator filled and reclaimed all openings.
