CO 80203
Re; Proposed Deserado Bond Reduction
Dear Mr. Renner:
The Albuquerque Field Office (AFO) has reviewed the Des ado Mine's
Permit Application Package (PAP) for bond reduction and h s the
following comments:
The costs associated with ripping and removing the pavement is indicated
as $111,917 in the current bond amount, as shown on page V-71 of the PAP
(revised 11-90). The proposed bond reduction earmarks $46,834 for this
task. Please provide an explanation of the reduction.
The revegetation and fencing cost approved in the current bond is
$562,737, whereas the revegetation and fencing cost in the proposed bond
is $295,337. It is unclear why this large decrease would occur,
particularly when total acreage increased by 20 percent. The cover memo
states "revised re-seeding and overhead costs" contributed to reducing
the bond amount. Please provide a more detailed explanation for these
changes.
The current bond lists MLRD management costs of third-party reclamation
after bid package preparation as $110,821, whereas the proposed bond
lists this cost as $21,359. Please provide a more detailed explanation.
