Enca Crosby Page 2 of 4
Division of Mineral and Geology October 27. 2004
~.~ ,
. ~ S.a. .
` :~
~ l-~
~•
!. 1
-,~~ •~'
, ~' ,
A-Pit Lake (St. Vrain•Portland No. 1 Reservoir), looking east.
A-Pit lake (shown above) continues to be used as a reservoir (St. Vrain-Portland No 1
Reservoir, as approved by Water Court Case No 84CW177). Due to material quality and
mining constraints, the reservoir was completed in a different configuration than that shown in
the 1984 TR. Please see the attached Revised Reclamation Plan Map for the current. and
final. configuration of the lake. The reservoir is approximately 35.6 acres in size. and has
approximately 1,200 feet of highwall on the south side. The remainder of the reservoir edge is
reclaimed to approximately 3 1 slopes. The entire Lyons Quarry site (north of Hygiene Road.
also known as CR10) is fenced, and no recreational or public access is allowed The non-
reservoir portions of A-Pit have been reclaimed to irrigated pasture.
Unpaved roads in the A-Pit area wdl remain for ditch and reservoir access, as shown on the
attached map. In addition, there is a permanent underground pipe system on the west side of
A-Pit reservoir that delivers recharge water from the Boulder Feeder Canal to the reservoir A
permanent pump and pipe system on the east side of the reservoir is used for removing water
for site irrigation and cement plant water needs.
Pit B
Pit B has been reclaimed to dryland and irrigated pasture The unpaved roads along the
Boulder Feeder Canal will remain for ditch and site access. as shown on the attached map.
Pit C
Mining at C-Pit is complete, and the pit is being used for disposal of Cement Kiln Dust (CKD).
As noted in the Division's Inspection Repoli. the pit will ultimately be filled and reclaimed to
irrigated pasture. The quality aspects of the ponded water at the CKD disposal area are being
addressed by Cemex separately
