Long <br />Division Director <br />The Division received your Technical Revision 002 (TR-2) for Pit No. 29, Permit No. M-80-183. <br />Listed below are adequacy review comments regazding the revision. The Division is required to <br />make an approval or denial decision no later than Octoberl5, 2001, therefore, your response to <br />the following adequacy review concerns should be submitted to the Division as soon as possible. <br />1. The operator provided a map locating all permitted water wells and surface water features on <br />Exhibit 2. The operator will need to state the owner of each well, the depth of each well, the <br />aquifer associated with each well and a description of how the well was completed. <br />2. In the application the operator states that the "neighbor's well" will be monitored to evaluate <br />potential impacts to the groundwater level. The operator must specify which wells will be <br />monitored, the frequency of the monitoring, the associated pazameters to be monitored and <br />commit to obtaining a series of baseline monitoring samples prior to dewatering any portion <br />of the pit. In addition, the operator will need to submit an agreement signed between the <br />operator and all owners of the wells to be sampled to ensure legal right of entry. <br />3. The operator states that suitable mitigation procedures will be instituted if water rights are <br />materially injured. Please explain the mitigation measures in further detail. In addition, at <br />what point is the water right considered injured? At what point will the mitigation plan be <br />implemented? Please explain in further detail. <br />4. Please explain how [he sttvctural integrity of the wells in the surrounding azea will be <br />impacted due to the rapid drawdown of groundwater associated with the pit. <br />
