in these matters. The liquid application(s) will be as deemed appropriate by the qualified
contractor and Botal/Ready Mixed proposes to inform DRMS of weed control activities
on an annual basis as part of the permit Annual Report function and requirements.
BoraUReady Mixed is currently in negotiations to select a preferred subcontractor and
proposes to begin inventory and spraying activities before the end of this month. Fall
weed control activities will be followed by spring evaluations and possible additional
treatments before remaining weeds can go to seed next yeaz. We envision this as an
annual ongoing process during each spring to control noxious weeds before they
propagate during the summer season. Specific management techniques will be
developed, implemented and documented using a practical mix of culture(, mechanical,
biological and chemical controls as deemed both effective and cost-effective.
In general the thistles, leafy spurge and diffuse knapweed will generally be controlled by
aggressive summer mowings followed by fall herbicide treatment. Field bindweed will
probably be generally controlled using herbicides, particulazly during the flowering stage
in eazly summer. Tamarisk (and Russian olive if encountered) will be treated in
accordance with the DRMS guidance, attached.
Further we plan to implement the plan as an integrated approach incorporation additional
weed control measures such as mowing, plowing, hand-pulling, grazing, etc., which will
be evaluated and implemented in conjunction with spraying as deemed appropriate in
consultation with our weed control subcontractor. If such standard measures are not
successful in eliminating the weed control problem within a reasonable amount of time
(approximately one to tlu~ee seasons of treatment) BoraUReady Mixed may contact
DRMS for additional assistance. With the assistance already provided by DRMS the
plant manager and our permitting consultant are already better educated about weed
identification at the site. We will continue to develop these recognition skills and attempt
to incorporate noxious weed identification and observation into our daily activities at the
site [o maximize Ute impact of our weed control efforts.
By reference and incorporation on the following pages, the following documents are
included in this Weed Control Plan Technical Revision:
1. DRMS Weed Contro] Policy (October 28, 2002)
2. Weed Management Guideline for Tamarisk and Russian Olive, Minerals
Program (February 8, 2006)
~.
