Snowstorm Sand ~ Gravel, LLC
The northerly part of the pit will be diked off which by
now is almost done, and will serve as the holding pond for
process water.
Mining will continue on the southwesterly bench which will lead
6 into the south pit area(Mine Plan Map).As the mining progressively
deepens, the southerly part of the current is filled with excavated
material displacing any water to the north into the holding pond.
This will permit an unimpeded mining operation with regard to water.
Water seepages close to bedrock were minor in the past and have bave
been handled by pumping.
3. Reference is made to the attached Amended Reclamation Plan 1998
Map.
As the affected and disturbed area is to be increased under this
amendment and constitutes an integrated operation the reclamation
plan including final contours,is incorporated in the attached map.
This amendmend requests an increase in the disturbed and affected
area from 29 acres to 79.5 acres. The areal increas is mainly due
to the pre=existing tailings pond in the north. The previously
submitted and approved reclamation plan for the tailings pond area
remains unchaged as no more operations are envisaged in this area
and reclamation has already been started in this area.
Instead of backfilling the pit to within 15 feet of the original
land surface.it is now proposed,in view oft the change from industrial
to wild life habitat end use,to partially back fill the pit and
create a pond with containment slopes not exceeding a 1 in 3 slope
(Attacxhed Reclamation Plan Map).
There is no change with regard to seed mixes from the previuosly
submitted reclamation plan for re-seeding the physically reclaimed
area.
This paragraph incorporates paragraph 9. of your letter of
September 18,1998.
S.The pertinent documents resolving the pending water rights
issues are attached to this letter in copy.
There has been no exposure or excavation below the water table.
All pit water has been accumulating from rain and melt water
run-off supplemented by water pumped from the permitted diversion
point at the Middle Fork Of the South Platte River.
2/3
c^^~
PO.
