i 1 • <br />1 EXHIBIT 1) <br />MLNING PLaN <br />' BIL1DBLrRY PLT <br />' The proposed gravel pit is located un top a hill south of Kannah Creek between State Highway ~0 <br />attd Bean Ranch Ruad. See exhibit B. This permit will overlay an existing permitted area mined by <br />' the Mesa County Road Department (Permit Nu. M-78-357), which will be used as a processing <br />and stockpile site. See exhibit C. The total affected land will be 38 acres, of which 9 acres <br />includes the old Mesa County Pit and an additional 28 acres to be mined. <br />' Mining will start on the west side of the old County Pit and proceed to the west. The overburden <br />and topsoil will be removed using dozers, wheel loaders and trucks. This material will be stripped <br />' and stockpiled for later use in reclamation. The gravel deposit will be mined usine wheel loaders <br />and loaded into trucks and or fed into a crusher. <br />' Overburden and topsoil average trvo feet in ttdekness and [he depth of the gravel deposit averages <br />eight feet in thickness. The material beneath the gravel deposit is shale. The orily commodity to he <br />mined is the saztd and gravel deposit. <br />' The primary purpose of this permit is to obtain a construction aggregate source for the widening of <br />Highway 50. A secondary purpose is for a constntction aggregate source to supply the general <br />' public in the vicinity of the pit. Assuming the pit were t4sed for a Highway Project, [he pit will be <br />mined in two or three phases containing 9 to 14 acres per phase. If it is used for commercial gravel <br />sales only, it would be mined in increments of 5 acre phases. For the putlwses of this application, <br />' it will he assumed that the pit is used for Highway ~0 widening projects and will he mined iu two <br />phases of 14 acres each. <br />' The estima[ed time required to mine, process and remove the material from the site is 9 to 1 ~ <br />months. <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br />
