~ • ~ •J
Windbreaks and environmental plantings are difficult to establish on
~' this soil due to•lack of moisture and slope. For long term survival,
supplemental moisture is required. Summer fallow, supplemental watering
during planting and early stages of growth, contour planting, and continued
cultivation fui weed control are needed Co insure establfahment and
survival of seedling. Among the trees that are suitable for planting are
Rocky Mountain Juniper, eastern redcedar, ponderosa pine, Siberian elm,
Russian-olive, and hackberry. Among the shrubs are skunkbush sumac, lilac,
Siberian peashrub, and American plum.
These soils are moderately well suited for homesite development. The
primary limitations are the high erosion hazard and slope which can be
overcome if care 1s taken during construction.
This map unit is in capability subclass VIe, nonirrigated. It is in
Loamy Slopes range site.
