Mine. The probability of no fertilizer applications has
already been discussed.
40a. The Tube and fuel trucks have been omitted from the estimate.
b. The mechanic cost has been omitted from the estimate.
c. Light plants have been included.
41a. Please see Worksheet DEMO-1 for the sludge removal costs.
b. Costs have been updated for 1993 Means costs.
c. PWCC has reviewed the DEMO-1 worksheet for seeding
transmission corridors. The same basis found in REV-1 and
Table 13-5-1 should be used for reseeding the corridor. This
includes seedbed preparation, cover crop seeding, and drill
seeding of Seed Mix 1. The estimated 6-acre corridor would
thus total $2218.56 for reseeding ($198.96 + 481.80 +
1537.80). The Means estimate is excessively high. The DEMO-1
worksheet has been modified to reflect the above.
d. Means uses an adjustment factor of 91 for Denver and 89.4 for
Colorado Springs for the Site Work category. PWCC is not
aware of any other adjustment factors. Did 0.025 come from
Means?
42. The pocket spacing has been revised to 6.15 feet.
43a. Revised as appropriate.
b. It was assumed the material could stay in the close proximity
of the facilities. The estimate has been revised to haul this
material to the diesel tank storage area.
c. In a discussion with Tom Hayes (CAT, Peoria), the Universal
blade will carry more material and is the blade of choice on
large earthmoving projects. Both blades are approximately
even on the flat. PWCC has made the adjustments as necessary
to the worksheets concerning blade type.
d. Costs have been included to compact the material.
44. Costs for compaction have been included on Worksheet PR-2.
45. it is difficult, if not impossible, to arrive at an actual
volume of material to be moved in haul road reclamation. An
attempt has been made to arrive at a volume by comparing the
existing contours with the proposed contours. This comparison
was done for a stretch of road that would remain after mining
and the volume was similar to that shown on Worksheet PR-2.
Costs have been revised accordingly. The deadhead route
reclamation cost was submitted to cover the cost no matter
where the route was at the time of mine closure. This route
could (and does) change on a monthly basis and there is no way
to estimate actual volumes.

11
