-2-
8
d. The coal removal volume for Pit 3 as referenced on pane 4.14-8
differs from the tonnage recorded in Exhibit 25. Please rectify
this discrepancy.
There appear to be some inconsistencies in the timing of the operations
and reclamation plan.
a. When is topsail being removed for Pond H? No year is designated on
Map 33.
b. It appears that overburden is being placed in overburden pile
No. 2 in Year 7 (Map 37) but topsoil is being removed from the site
in Year 8.
c. There are numerous inconsistencies between Map 40 and Table 62.
Please modify them to relate to one another, ensuring that the
following issues are addressed at a minimum.
i. Map 40 indicates that topsoil will be replaced in Pit 1 in
years 3 and 4, while Table 62 indicates that no topsoil is
being replaced anywhere in years 3 and 4.
ii. Map 40 indicates that topsoil replacement will occur in years
1 and 2 in both Pits 1 and 2 yet Table 62 only documents 720
Pit reclamation.
iii. Map 40 indicates topsoil reolacement in Pits 1 and 2 in year
5 but Table 62 indicates that it won't happen until year 6.
Year 6 is shown on Pit 2 but not on Pit 1 of Map 40.
iv. Map 40 indicates that topsoil replacement on overburden pile
No. 1 will occur in years 6, 7 and 8: Table 62 indicates it
will occur in years 7 and 8.
v. Map 40 indicates that topsoil replacement on Overburden Pile
No. 2 will occur in years 8, 9 and 10; Table 62 indicates it
will occur in years 9 and 10.
vi, To what does OB-E refer in Table 62?
vii. There is no reference to B-D on Table 62, although it shows
up at 43250N and 57000E on Map 40.
9. Please discuss the size of the disturbance areas east of Pit 2 and the
footprint of the northernmost temporary overburden stockpile. Identify
how this complies with Rule 4.05.5(2)(a) which discusses disturbance of
the smallest practicable area.
