TRAPPER MINING INC.
June 18, 1987
DELIVERED
Mr. Gregg Squire
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Gregg:
~~ !'~cr i~ c~ ~~ -=ss~ iii'
JU~J 1 J 1987
6tECLAMa."~:pw L;iV:StQt~l
RE: Construction of livestock ponds on reclaimed lands
as specified in TR-29 (1986), File No. C-81-010.
In September, 1986, the Division approved a technical revision for livestock
pond construction on reclaimed lands at Trapper Mine. To date, seven ponds
have been constructed and an additional [en pond locations have been selected
with construction scheduled to begin shortly. These ponds have proven to be a
valuable wildlife habitat improvement technique on reclaimed lands as well as
for future livestock use. In addition, the ponds are able to retain surface
runoff from high intensity summer thunderstorms and spring snow melt and are
therefore valuable in reducing gullying in reconstructed drainages.
This letter is a request to construct more than the ten ponds already approved
for 1987. A map will be provided to the Division at the end of the construc-
tion season showing the location of the additional ponds. Their exact loca-
tion cannot be provided until field reconnaissance for beneficial locations is
completed later this summer. As stated in TR-29, all ponds will be checked by
the Soil Conservation Service for completeness.
Gregg, thanks for your cooperation in this matter. Pleased call if you have
any questions.
Best regards,
y)~~~-.
H. Bruce Humphries
Sr. Environmental Engineer
HBH/jb
pc R.L. Fan yo, WDB6T
L.W.
