STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Gove
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, DireMOr
July 1, 1987
Mr. H. Bruce Humphries
Trapper Mining, Inc.
P. 0. Box 187
Craig, Colorado 81626
Re: Construction of Livestock Ponds on Reclaimed Lands - Technical
Revision No. 29 - File No. C-81-010
Dear Mr. Humphries:
In response to your letter, received on June 19, 1987, the Division has the
following comments:
1) We have no problems with the construction of livestock ponds, as
indicated by our approval of Technical Revision No. 29.
2) As written, your letter gives no maximum number of ponds to be
built. A number based on one pond per a certain number of
disturbed acres should be given.
3) Trapper Mining, Inc. should provide a justification for the
construction of whatever number of ponds is proposed. Such a
justification should be based on the amount of water available,
optimum number of ponds for livestock use on the area, and how the
proposed number will result in the maximum beneficial use of the
area after reclamation.
The Division will respond to your request upon receipt of the above requested
information.
Sincerely,
Gregg R.
