Long
Date: November 25, 1994 Division Director
Re: Cyprus Empire Eagle No. 5 and 9 Mines (C-81-044)
Teohnioal Revision No. TR-25
I have reviewed the above referenced TR and have the following
concerns:
1) CEC states that the borehole casing will protrude a
minimum of five feet above the ground surface to prevent
surface flow into the borehole. How will the casing be
capped to prevent infiltration of precipitation?
2) CEC states that "If drilling or environmental conditions
indicate the need, a small temporary berm may be
constructed on the lowest side of the drill site to
prevent site runoff." CEC should commit to installing
sediment control measures for the drill pad regardless of
"drilling or environmental conditions."
3) CEC indicates that cuttings will be disposed of in the
mud pits. How will CEC ensure that the reclaimed mudpit
is sufficiently compact so that vehicles or livestock
using the area in the future will not be adversely
impacted?
4) What is the approximate depth of the water table in the
location of the proposed borehole?
if you or the operator have any questions, give me a call.
BLP
