TES and BLM Sensitive Species Survey Report-Oxbow Elk Creek Mine Expfomtion Project
The results of the surveys and observations related to each of the federally-listed threatened and
endangered species and BLM sensitive species with potential habitat along the project area are
presented below.
No federal T&E species were identified within or near the project azeas. No raptors nests were
observed within the 0.5 mile of the proposed drill sites or access roads. One red-tailed hawk and
numerous turkey vultures were observed in flight. No nests were observed. The Red-tailed
hawk and turkey vultures are not federally protected species or on the BLM sensitive species
lists.
No BLM sensitive species or their habitat was identified within or near the project area. No BLM
sensitive raptors or raptor nests were observed within 0.5 mile of the proposed drill sites or
access roads. According to the BLM, it is unlikely any exploration would interfere with
potential habitat as atl proposed roads and drill sites avoid drainages, seeps, wetlands, or ponds
(BLM 2004a).
CONCLUSIONS
Due to the lack of threatened, endangered, and candidate species and their habitat, no adverse
impacts are anticipated for federal TES as a result of this project. No adverse impacts to raptors
aze anticipated. Further, no adverse impacts are anticipated for BLM sensitive species or their
habitat as a result of this project.
REFERENCES
Colorado Division of Wildlife. 2004a. Bald eagle.
