Memo/Re:CCMC No 1 Mine Md-trm Rvw - 2 -
July 24, 1986
6. Did the extensive exploration and drilling program affect the
ground water regime through such actions as intraformational
communication in uncased or unplugged drill holes? If so, how
should CCMC mitigate this potential problem? Has drill hole
reclamation and plugging been adequate? If ground water problems
do occur, what, if any, effect would this have on the regional
water resource picture?
7. The clean water diversion ditch on the west and northwest side of
the mine pit, although functioning, seems to be experiencing rapid
erosion and possible head cutting. What can be done to
characterize this if a problem exists and mitigate the problem if
necessary? The soils in the mine area resemble a loess-like soil;
if this is the case, then what are the erosion properties of this
soil?
8. CCMC has a large number of abandoned mines on its property. What
can be done to restrict access to these abandoned mines, and what
parts of the ACT and Regulations can be cited to support MLRD's
position on making their property less hazardous to the public
since parts of the property have to remain open for county
right-of-way?
9. Check stipulations from findings document dated June 16, 1983
(attached) that apply to your particular field of expertise and
make sure these stipulations have been adequately addressed.
10. Are the certifications for critical structures present or
up-to-date?
11. Are all existing permits other than MLRD current?
These issues are to be assigned in the following manner:
Person Issue No.
3e~t~ ~~11 (esp. regs. for No. 8)
Gregg 1,2,3,9,10 (embankments and roads if applicable)
Candy 3,5,7,9,10
Jim 5,6,8
List of stipulations to be reviewed for adequacy:
Person Sti ulation (see attached list)
ems- ,p ,16,18,19
Gregg 6,7,8,9,12
Candy 1,2,3,13,14
Jim 4,5,17
