1.0 INTRODUCTION
Battle Mountain Resources, Inc. (BMRI) has been performing water treatment activities
at the San Luis Project located on [he western flan]: of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains,
approximately 4 miles northeast of San Luis in Costilla County, Collorado. During
operation of the water treatment facility, BMRI identified the need for a divider berm to
' be constructed within the former Pond 3 in an effort to optimize water management and
chemical pre-treatment processes. A Conceptual Design Report for the divider berm was
' prepared by GeoTrans and provided to BMRI on November 8, 2000.
' Berm construction and related site activities were performed from i}Iovember 8 to
November I7, 2000 in accordance with the procedures and specifications outlined in the
' Conceptual Design Report. This as-built report describes the constructioh and layout of
the divider berm. Services provided by GeoTrans in support of this proj~ct included (1)
compaction testing of fill materials [o define compaction specifications, 42) construction
oversight and in situ moisture-density testing to verify compliance with compaction
' specifications, (3) performance of a final survey of the as-built berm, (4~ supervision of
synthetic liner installation, and (5) performance of QA/QC tests synthetic Uiner seams. A
' complete summary of details and data regarding these activities is contained herein.
' 2.0 BERM DESIGN FEATURES
' 2.1 Berm Description
The as-built berm divides the former Pond 3 into two separate pond as shown on
' Drawing 1. The northern and southern portions of the former Pond 3 ar~ designated as
New Pond 2 and New Pond 3, respectively. The pond immediately west ~f New Pond 2
' and New Pond 3 now is designated as Pond 4. The locations (northin~, easting) and
elevations of survey points measured after berm construction also ar(; provided on
' Drawing 1. The elevation of the berm crest is approximately 8605 ft at the northwest end
of the berm and approximately 8606 ft at the southeast end of the berm to t;onform to the
' existing ground surface. The width of the berm crest is approximately 10 feet [o
' Sau Luis Project 1 ~ GeoTrm~s, bic.
p.~~ ~a„mmg~~„rw-pevi..,,RR,.w~m.~~~rawa~.me~.e~~n,~~.,e« Febn~my200/
1
