PUBLICATION NOTICE <br />Empire Energy Corporation, P. 0. Box 68, Craig, Colorado 81626;, <br />telephone: (303) 824-9467, has filed with the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Division an application fora permit to conduct coal mining <br />under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act <br />of 1979. The proposed permit application covers an existing underground <br />mining operation with primary surface disturbances in the following <br />areas: W1/2 of Section 32; all of Section 31; T6N, R91W and PI1/2 of <br />Section 6; N4J1/4 of Section 5; T5N, R91W of the 6th P.M.; Moffat County, <br />Colorado. <br />The surface of the permit area is owned by Empire Energy of the <br />State of Colorado and Charles and Paul Silengo. <br />The Empire Energy Eagle Mine Complex is a continuous underground <br />mining operation which originally began in 1971. The description below <br />indicates the towns, water bodies, location landmarks and routes <br />necessary to readily identify the proposed permit area. The post mining <br />land use of the affected land is farming, wildlife habitat and <br />industrial usage. <br />The Round Bottom and Caster Gulch quadrangles contain the proposed <br />area for the Empire Energy operation. A copy of this application is <br />available for public inspection at he Moffat County Courthouse in Craig, <br />Colorado. <br />Written comments, objections or requests for an informal conference <br />on the application may be submitted to and additional information <br />obtained from the Mined Land Reclamation Division, Room 423, 1313 <br />Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203; telephone (303) 839-3567. <br />Written comments, objections or requests for an informal conference must <br />be filed by the Division by 5:00 p.m. on <br />Description <br />The Empire Energy Eagle P1ine Complex is located approximately seven <br />miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado at an elevation of 6200 feet. The <br />mine can be reached by taking State Highway 13 southwest of Craig to the <br />intersection of the mine access road. The Empire Energy Eagle Mine <br />Complex lies on both sides of the State Highway, but main offices are <br />located on the east side on State Highway 13. <br />II-65 <br />
