Public Notice <br />t <br />Empire Energy Corporation, P. 0. Box 68, Craig, Colorado 81626; telephone <br />number (303)824-8246, has filed with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />Division an application for a permit revision to permit CO-044-81. The <br />proposed permit revision is for approval of a boundary change, change in <br />mining methods, and construction of an overland conveyor for the Eagle No. <br />5 Mine. The boundary change is located within the following legal <br />description: E} NE}, E} SE3, Sec. 5; and W} NW}, W} SW}, portions of the <br />E} NW}, and the E} SW} Sec. 4; portions of SW} SW} Sec. 33; TSN, R91W of <br />the 6th P.M., Moffat County, Colorado. <br />Both the mining method change area, excluding the boundary change area and <br />the overland conveyor are located within the existing permit boundary. <br />The surface of the boundary change area is owned by Trapper Mining Inc. <br />while the mineral is owned by Utah International Inc. <br />The Eagle No. 5 Mine is part of the Eagle Mine Complex which is an <br />underground mining operation that has been in existence since 1971. The <br />description below indicates the town, water bodies, location landmarks, <br />and routes necessary to readily identify the proposed permit revision <br />area. The post-mining land use of the affected area will be for <br />rangeland. <br />The Reund Bottom and Castor Gulch quadrangles contain the proposed permit <br />revision area. A copy of the permit revision is available for public <br />inspection at the Moffat County Courthouse in Craig, Colorado. <br />~dritten comments, objections, or requests for an informal conference on <br />the application may be submitted to, and additional information obtained <br />from the Mined Land Reclamation Division, Room 423, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Denver, Colorado 80203; telephone number (303)866-3567. Written comments, <br />objections, or requests for an informal conference must be filed with the <br />Division by 5:00 p.m. on <br />De<_cription <br />The Eagle No. 5 Mine is located approximately seven miles southwest of <br />Craig, Colorado at an elevation of 6,130 feet. The boundary change area <br />is located at the southeastern edge of the existing permit boundary in <br />Section 5, TSN, P,91W. The mine can be reached by taking State Highway 13 <br />southwest to the Coal Mine Road exit. The Eagle No. 5 portal area is west <br />of State Highway 13, while the eastern half of the mine lies to the east <br />of the Williams Fork River and State Highway 13. Pcrtions of the boundary <br />change area will underlie +_he western area of the Trapper Mine. The mine <br />offices are located on the west side of State Highway 13, and the <br />administrative office is located in Craig. <br />
