020, Revised 1983: (Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and
~ Wastes). A list of these methods and their applicable method
numbers is given as Appendix C.
5.3 Quality Control
' , The details of the quality control procedures to be used by the
analytical laboratory are contained in their standard operating
procedures (SOP), the relevant parts of which are pYesented in
Appendix A. These quality control procedures are baffied on, and
developed from, the principles described in Chapter 1, USEPA/OSWER
SW-846 (1986, 3rd Edition).
' Appendix A includes descriptions of protocols for the analysis of
reference standards, matrix spiking and recovery analyses, analysis
' of duplicate samples, and analysis of field and rinsAte blanks,
together with methods for the assessment of the data so generated.
Appendix D gives the limits required under the analytical
laboratory quality control procedures for:
' (1) Upper and lower acceptance methods for analysis of
' reference standards for each analytical parameter and for
each analytical method;
(2) Upper and lower acceptance limits for matrix spiking
recovery analyses for each analytical parameter and for
' each analytical method;
' (3) The upper limit for the relative deviation between
duplicate analyses for each analytical parameter and for
each analytical method; and
-32-
1
