' 3.3.3 Rinse Blanks: Prior to any sampling, and at every fifth sample,
a rinse blank will be collected. Rinse blanks will be collected
from the sampling equipment, e.g. the filling bucket.
After cleaning, using the procedure as outlined in this protocol,
a final rinse of deionized, distilled water will be colllected. The
analytical laboratory performing the analysis will supply the
deionized, distilled water which is to be used for rinse blanks.
' The laboratory supplying the deionized, distilled water will
perform an analysis on each lot to demonstrate that the water is
analyte free. Analysis of this rinse blank will be used to
evaluate the equipment cleaning procedure.
1 3.4 Record Keeoina
All field data will be recorded in the Field Data Collection
Sheets. These data will include: weather conditions, field water
' quality parameter data, station number or location, the number of
sample bottles to be obtained, the sequence in which the samples
were taken and the sampler's name. A Field Data Collection
Checklist will also be filled out for each sample site to
' demonstrate that appropriate protocols were followed. The
Checklist form is shown in Appendix B.
A chain of custody will be implemented during sample collection,
which will be filed with the laboratory indicating the parameters
requested, as well as the collection date of the sampl@s.
Prior to off-site shipment, samples will be inspected as to whether
they are tightly capped, and labeled properly. Sample containers
will be placed into the shipping cooler, surrounded by packing
material and ice. Sufficient ice will be added to the cooler to
' maintain a temperature of 4°C during transit to the lab, Shipping
containers will be affixed with a security seal.
!~
-25-
